Venue: Oraganized by Nepal Police at Hotel Manaslu Inn, Biratnagar
The Mega Campaign Against Narcotics (Mega CAN) 2083, launched by the District Police Office, Morang, is an intensive, city-wide crackdown targeting substance abuse and drug-impaired driving through strict enforcement and community mobilisation.
Key Campaign Actions
- Targeted Border Checkpoints: Morang Police are actively running operations at major border entries, executing rapid drug-screening tests on public transit and cargo drivers to eliminate impaired driving.
- Public Awareness & Rallies: Initiated at Mahendra Chowk and marching to the Shahid Rangashala, massive public rallies are driving anti-drug messaging directly into the community.
- Creative Youth Engagement: The campaign leverages modern digital outreach, incorporating local street dramas and a city-wide Mega CAN TikTok Video Competition to involve youth in prevention.
- Visible Deterrents: To send a clear message on zero tolerance, law enforcement agencies are conducting public asset destructions of seized contraband, including large-scale cannabis burnings.
Academic & Legal Sector Solidarity
Joining the ranks of local schools and social organisations, Bright Vision Law College (BVLC), Biratnagar has formally stepped up to participate in the mega campaign. As a premier legal education institution in the city, BVLC's students and faculty are actively backing the drive—bridging the gap between law enforcement and public legal awareness. Future jurists from the college are helping educate youth on the severe, long-term legal consequences mandated under Nepal’s Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act.
